What's a Little Competition Amongst Office Mates? (Part I)

So, what can a little competition tell us about office behavior and energy efficiency? Well, here at PECI, we’re hoping quite a bit. PECI recently completed an exciting in-house behavioral study that involved a two-week competition—aptly named The Kilowatt Cup—pitting each PECI office floor against the other to see who could reduce their plug load energy the most.  Here was our call to action:

Marketing Energy Efficiency: When Peer Pressure is Encouraged

If you’re in the biz, it’s a hot topic – how do you effectively market energy efficiency to consumers? Maybe you offer some tips: turn down your water heater, install a low-flow shower head, replace your lights with CFLs – but what do you think of when you hear that? I imagine cold showers with no water pressure and unreliable lighting.
